Tradie reviewed: James Hardie Scyon Axon cladding

James Hardie Scyon Axon external cladding is a modern take on the traditional material. It’s vertical-lined, leading the eye upward rather than the traditional horizontal look. With 9mm wide grooves 133mm apart, it has the look of vertical joint timber. However, it is actually 1200mm-wide fibre cement sheets, making it an efficient way to cover brick walls or badly rendered facades. It is also resistant to damage from shrinking, swelling, rot and termites.

Flexible size options

Sheets are available in lengths of 2,450mm, 2,750mm and 3,000mm, which reduces the need for cutting and time wasted on a job. It also has hidden shiplap joins, which will speed up construction and keep it looking slick with all joints hidden.

Easy installation

The most efficient thing about the Axon cladding is that you can use a nail gun with 50mm 14G stainless steel brad nails to put it up, making for quick installation. The cladding is pre-primed so – once it’s up – it's ready to paint in any colour.

10-year warranty

The Scyon Axon cladding comes with a 10-year warranty, giving you and your client peace of mind. They may not need it, though: the concrete construction is durable and perfect for Australian weather. It resists shrinking, swelling, rot, moisture and termites when installed and maintained correctly.
